The Housing Project

I've been here for three weeks now, and I think they're starting to get the hang of it. I've had to forgive them for a few things, such as yesterday when Mama held me down and force-fed me what I can only describe as Hades Juice. There has also been a handful of times when they couldn't tell the "I'm starving" cry from the "I'm just an aggravated baby" cry. But overall, they're doing a pretty good job.

I've done a pretty good job of convincing them that the only way I will sleep is on somebody's chest in the recliner, or on the couch (Daddy's is pretty comfortable). Sometimes, just for grins and giggles, I'll let them lay me down and wait until I hear them pull the covers over their head before I start doing my thing. So much fun.

It's been pretty nice around here though, and I've gotten to hang out with the grandmas a lot, which has been fun. Gotta go for now, there's pooping to be done.

Last Night in the Belly

So they tell me this is it. I keep hearing talk of "being ready" and "getting ready" and "are you excited?" but I'm not really following. I do know that there's been a lot of shuffling going on tonight, a lot of mama running around the house. Luckily, I got some Mexican food for supper.
And chocolate covered amaretto pecans (that I'm sure are part of the gestational diabetic diet).

Mama and I have had a pretty relaxing week. Monday was our last day at work, and since then we've only had to get out of the house to go to the doctor. That worked fine for me. I needed a day or two to relax, and from what I understand it's not easy for Mama to be carrying me around like this all day. It did us good to relax.

I have to sign off now because Mama and Daddy are going to try to get a little sleep before "the big day." I'm going to sit quietly and wait on an explanation.

The Chicken Florentine Test

I think I'm supposed to understand that Mondays put people in a sour mood, and I think I'm also supposed to understand that having babies in their bellies make people testy. Today, those both culminated (Daddy's doing vocabulary practice with me) in Mama blessing out the lady from the cable company. She felt bad about it afterwards, but when Daddy got home he said that he was sure they deserved it for something. Mama said she hasn't gotten mad like that at somebody on the phone before, but that she just couldn't handle that level of stupidity.

The weekend was good. Friday night, Mama and Daddy stayed in. They got food from the Olive Garden (a family favorite), and we ate it on the couch and went to bed early. Saturday, Mama and Daddy did some more straightening and "prep work" around the house. I think the "prep work" comment is some kind of smart-alleck commentary that has to do with me, but I'm going to ignore it. Anyway, they got a lot done, a lot of boxes out of the guest room and whatnot.

Sunday, Mama and Daddy started making me nervous. They packed some things into the truck for the big day. They packed my bag, some pillows, a sleeping bag, an air mattress (for Daddy), and a few other things. They're trying to get ready, even though they know that "getting ready" is as abstract an idea as "true love" on reality TV, or even "reality" on reality TV (which my parents are shamefully semi-watching as I write this) for that matter.

After packing some things, we (and by "we" I mean Daddy, Uncles Adam and Pat, and my two grandpas) moved a piano from grandma's house. I think it was pretty heavy, but me and Mama just stayed back out of the way. Later, we went and listened to Daddy play the drums. It was pretty extremely loud, and I'm sure I kicked Mama a lot while I was trying to get my hands up to cover my ears. But I don't want to hurt Daddy's feelings. It sounded good.

And that brings us to today. Me and Mama had a doctor's visit, which wasn't very fun. The minute I felt those stupid monitors on Mama's belly I quit moving just for spite. I don't know who they think they're fooling. I'm not playing their game. They'll see me in a couple of weeks, and if they can't deal with the fact that I'll be quite alright in here by myself until then, they can just all go have a good cry about it. Just leave me alone. Anyway, after they took them off, I started kicking again just to make my point.

And tonight, there was Comcast. We were excited when Daddy finally got home from school. Then we had broccoli cheese soup, which was excellent. And now it is bed time.

Good night.

i weigh 6 pounds, 10 ounces.

today, me and mama were late for work again. i don't really like going there, but she promises that we don't have to for much longer. before we left, we saw some cute pictures of sadie on mama's email. mama says that we'll be great friends.

we didn't stay at work for very long because we had to go to see dr. st. amant so he could check on us and take my picture. he said everything was good with me and that mama doesn't need to be on her feet so much. (i knew going to work was a bad idea).

when we left the perinatologist (that's what mama says he is...he's the baby 'specialist' or whatever), mama really wanted a smoothie. she didn't get one because she says 'they have too much sugar', but i think it would be really good. we went to hobby lobby because mama is still looking for a shelf for my room. she can't find one that she likes and i think she's starting to get mad about it. we walked around and looked at some pretty christmas ornaments. i was proud of mama because she didn't buy anything...even though there were some that she really really wanted.

since we weren't getting a smoothie, mama decided she would get me some sugar free yogurt. i was all excited...until i heard the lady at the window get smart with my mama. i thought to myself 'uh-oh'. then, i listened to mama say that lady was mean...and she paid for our yogurt with $2.56...all in loose change...while she snarled at the mean window lady.

we had a nap when we got home and it was awesome. when we got up, mama was in a much better mood...until she got on the phone with the cable lady. mama said they owe her and daddy a lot of money from when they moved and they keep saying they are going to mail a check, but tonight the lady acted like mama was crazy and said she didn't know anything about a refund. well, she must not have known that having me in her belly makes my mama a little cranky. so, i listened to mama gripe at the cable lady and tell daddy how dumb she thought the cable lady was.

uncle pat is here now. he's saying something about 'signing up for the navy'. i have no idea what that means, but he seems excited about it so i guess i am, too. daddy says uncle pat has a good plan so i guess that means it's good.

mama keeps saying she is tired and that it's bedtime, so i guess i have to get off of this computer and go to bed. i don't really have a choice at this point.

The Weekend

Thursday night, Mama and Daddy had their loud friends over to eat and watch their show. I tried to stay pretty quiet because I figured if I moved much they were going to try to show me off. I'm taking time for me now because I'm pretty sure that when I get here I'm going be bounced around like a volleyball.

Friday, we had to go to work again, but it wasn't that bad. Mama sang some good songs to me (Eva Cassidy and the Beatles). Friday evening, we met Daddy after work and tried to shop for a shelf but we didn't find anything except a store with a bunch of musty-smelling used furniture and a baby bed from 1860. Also, Daddy was having a hissy fit because he thought that a pimple on his leg was staph infection, and Mama thought he was being a drama queen so she stopped entertaining him.

Then Mama and Daddy went on what they called a "date." I was there, but not really. They didn't talk much to me at dinner, but it was okay because it was an awesome peppercorn filet.

Saturday we went to Winnsboro and listened to Daddy playing the drums. The weather was nice and Mama and miss Anna were able to listen from the truck with the windows rolled down, so Mama wouldn't get too tired having to stand around. That night, we went to a weird movie with Uncle Adam. I didn't understand it. It was late when we got home and Mama's sugar was low, so she was kind of grouchy. Then Daddy made us a grilled cheese and she got better.

This morning Mama was crowding me out because she drank three glasses of milk. She just kept saying, "I'm so thirsty," and I kept thinking, "I'm so running out of room." Then we went to church, and then to visit Mr. Ford, and then we came home and Mama talked to Aunt Jessie, and took a two hour nap while Daddy cleaned other people's garbage out of our shed out back.

Then Mammie and Pappie came over and brought supper (beef stew, which satisfied Mama's roast beef craving), and then me and Mama got our butts kicked at Scrabble. It is now getting past our bedtime.

Goodnight.

Chinese Dance Party

Dear Diary,

Mama and I slept late again. We had our Coke like usual, and Mama sang to me. She did a good job, but she only sang one song that I liked. We had waffles for breakfast, which was good to me. I'm supposed to eat every three to four hours, so when Mama goes on a sleeping binge, I get a bit cranky.

We went shopping tonight and bought a few things for the guest room. I'm told that's where the grandmas will sleep. Mama tried on some Crocs because shoes have stopped fitting her poor feet, but she didn't find any that she liked. Then Mama bought me Chinese food for supper. It was an excellent idea, and when Daddy got home and put his hand on me I showed him a few dance moves. He loves it when I dance. Mama does too, but it's not nearly as much fun for her as it is for him.

Goodnight, blogosphere.
